Douglas Geers is a composer living in New York City and Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is currently an Associate Professor of Music Composition and Director of the STRUM Electronic Music Studios at the School of Music of the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities), where he founded and directs the Spark Festival of Electronic Music and Arts.  

In September, 2009, Geers will join the faculty of the City University of New York, Brooklyn College Conservatory.  There he will be an Associate Professor of Music Composition and Director of the Center for Computer Music.

Geers specializes in electro-acoustic and multimedia musical works, including various combinations of live musicians, actors, video, dancers, and computer-generated sounds.
